FAQs – Move Out Cleanings
Do you offer move-out services?
Moving is a lot of work, but booking our move-out cleaning can make it a little easier. Before your appointment, please ensure:
- The unit is still in your possession
- All personal belongings have been removed
- Cabinets, drawers, closets, refrigerators, and storage areas have been emptied
- Electricity and water are turned on and working
If belongings remain when your Pro arrives, we will make a reasonable effort to complete the cleaning; however, areas blocked by personal belongings may not be cleaned.
Move-Out Cleanings cover standard housekeeping tasks only. Services such as carpet cleaning, painting, appliance repair, electrical work, mold or mildew remediation, and other specialized services are not included.
What will be cleaned during my service?
This service is designed for completely vacant homes. If belongings remain in the home, our Pros will clean all reasonably accessible areas. Areas blocked by personal belongings may not receive the same level of detail or may be skipped altogether.
Your Move Out Cleaning also includes disposal of up to two bags of clearly designated trash. If you need additional trash removed, additional trash removal may be purchased as an add-on.
What won’t my Move Out Cleaning cover?
This service excludes any outstanding maintenance work, which will not be covered by our housekeeping checklist. We leave the following specialized work to the appropriate experts: carpet cleaning, repair work, painting, appliance damage, electrical work, mold & mildew remediation, and any other items not typically booked through a housekeeper. Refer to our Spruce Move Out Cleaning Checklist to learn more!
What do I need to do to prepare for my service?
Please ensure all personal items are removed and that electricity and water are still available and operational. Please note, units must still be in the resident’s possession for a Move out Cleaning to take place, and we are only able to perform Move Out Cleanings on completely vacant units (emptied of all personal items).
What will happen to any items I leave behind in my apartment?
Move Out Cleanings are designed for vacant homes.
If belongings remain when your Cleaning Pro arrives, we will make a reasonable effort to complete the service. However:
- Areas blocked by personal belongings may not be cleaned.
- We will not move large amounts of personal property in order to access surfaces.
- We will not assume that remaining belongings are intended for disposal.
If you would like remaining items disposed of, they must be clearly designated, and additional trash removal charges may apply depending on the amount. Spruce will not be liable for any items left in the unit, or disposal fees after a Move Out cleaning service has been completed.
Can I choose a specific arrival time?
Our move-out cleanings have a large booking window because these services take a lot of time for our team and we want to ensure we allocate enough space for other services as well as move-out cleanings. While requests for arrival times can be made in our notes, we cannot guarantee a specific arrival time. Instead, we ask that the day you book your move-out cleaning is one when your unit will be entirely empty and when your utilities are still on.
Are there any situations in which extra charges may apply?
Yes. Additional charges may apply if:
- You request trash removal beyond the two bags included with your Move Out Cleaning.
- Additional customer-designated trash removal is requested during the appointment.
- More time is needed for specific areas or rooms upon the cleaning Pro’s initial walkthrough.
If additional charges are necessary, our team will review the request with you before any additional work is performed.
